Adjustable frequency drives save energy

This article describes the use of an adjustable frequency drive for a water pump in a waste water treatment plant. In addition to reducing energy consumption, maintenance costs were reduced and the efficiency of the plant and the primary clarifier was increased. Variations in water level are reduced by improved control of the pump speed, rather than an on/off response to water level.
