International alcohol fuels. Hearing before the Subcommittee on Energy, Nuclear Proliferation, and Government Processes of the Committee on Governmental Affairs, United States Senate, Ninety-Seventh Congress, First Session, March 24, 1981
Fifteen witnesses representing race car drivers, the postal service, the space program, a Brazilian investment banker, the alcohol fuels industry, and government agencies were present at the hearing on the worldwide future for alcohol as a nonpetroleum-based liquid fuel to supplement conservation in reducing oil-import dependence. Each of the witnesses described his experience with alcohol as an alternative transportation fuel. They were asked to comment on the appropriate level for government participation in commercial development of alcohol fuels and on the potential for an alcohol-fuels reserve to back up the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Their testimony, responses, and communications with the committee are followed by additional material submitted for the record. (DCK)
