Current and planned uses of robotic equipment at Commonwealth Edison (ComEd) nuclear reactors are described. The equipment is used primarily for maintenance activities. Robotics, video, and other forms of remote technology helps ComEd to be cost competitive and lower radiation exposures. A ComEd robotics initiative to further promote robotics is highlighted. ComEd has 12 nuclear reactors at six sites. Three sites operate General Electric boiling water reactors and three sites operate Westinghouse pressurized water reactors.
