Super technology for tomorrow's supercomputers

In the past, it has been possible to achieve significant performance improvements in large computers simply by using newer, faster, or higher density components. However, as the rate of component improvement has slowed, we are being forced to rely on system architectural change to gain performance improvement. The authors examine the technologies required to design more parallel processing features into future supercomputers. 3 references.
