Title: THE PRIMORDIAL TRANSURANIUM ISOTOPE IN NATURE (in Russian)

Journal Article · · Geokhimiya (U.S.S.R.) For English translation 1956-63 see Geochemistry (USSR)
OSTI ID:4748393

In some young natural samples a primordial radioactive alpha -emitter is obtained. The alpha -spectrum main line extends from 4.2 to 4.6 Mev and the gamma rays have the energy in the region: 90 to 250 kev. This isotope, apparently, is Cm/sup 247/. Decay products of Am/sup 243/ and Pu/sup 239/ accompany it. The Cm/sup 247/ content in natural minerals is about n x 10/sup -8/ % and Cm/sup 247//U/sup 238/ = n x 10/sup -2/ (activity units). The decay period of the isotope is estimated as 2.5 x 10/sup 8/ years. (auth)
