ENDOR of superoxide dismutase: Structure determination of the copper site from randomly oriented specimen

Using native and deuterated randomly-oriented frozen-solution specimens of copper-zinc SOD from human and bovine erythrocytes at about 5 K, ENDOR spectra were obtained. This has allowed for the reconstruction of the prosthetic group at the copper site in SOD, revealing that it is unchanged from that obtained by X-ray analysis at room temperature. 14 refs., 8 figs., 4 tabs.
