The Tokamak Physics Experiment (TPX) device, which is under conceptual design in the US, presents several neutronics and shielding issues that impact the machine design significantly. This paper presents an overview of the various issues and a summary of the various design analyses that have been performed thus far to quantify the issues and to guide the design toward near-optimal engineering solutions to the problems.
