United States Air Force 611th Air Support Group/Civil Engineering Squadron, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska Risk Assessment, Oliktok Point Radar Installation, Alaska. Final report
This document contains the baseline human health risk assessment and the ecological risk assessment (ERA) for the Oliktok Point Distant Early Warning (DEW) Line radar installation. Eight sites at the Oliktok Point radar installation underwent remedial investigations (RIs) during the summer of 1993. The presence of chemical contamination in the soil, sediments, and surface water at the installation was evaluated and reported in the Oliktok Point Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study (RI/FS) (U.S. Air Force 1996). The analytical data reported in the RI/FS form the basis for the human health and ecological risk assessments. The primary chemicals of concern (COCs) at the eight sites are diesel and gasoline from past spills and/or leaks, chlorinated solvents, metals, and polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs).
