Abstract

The bibliography contains citations concerning the biological processes that breakdown polymers. Emphasis is placed on the polymers most susceptible to biodecomposition. Materials used in pharmaceuticals, agriculture, wastewater treatment, and food packaging are considered. The importance of biodegradable plastics as a way to control waste is discussed.
