Precombustion removal of hazardous air pollutant precursors. Technical progress report. No.2 (Revised). January--March 1996
Work during the second quarter focused on data generation. The fourth and final coal has been received (Illinois Basin) and much of the laboratory work has been completed on the first three coals. The raw coal head and washability analyses is complete for the Northern Appalachian coal. Mass balance closures for this coal are very good, indicating good laboratory repeatability. The fourth coal was received in February rather than November as originally planned. Because of this delay in coal receipt, completion of laboratory washability and middlings liberation testing is behind schedule. In addition, the work on chemical and biologic cleaning at Howard University has been delayed, primarily because of delays in obtaining laboratory equipment. Neither of these delays is expected to delay completion of Phase I of the project.
