Title: Synthesis and characterization of Dy{sub 0.55}Sr{sub 0.45}Mn{sub 1-x}Fe{sub x}O{sub 3}

Polycrystalline compounds of Dy{sub 0.55}Sr{sub 0.45}Mn{sub 1-x}Fe{sub x}O{sub 3} with x=0 to 0.8 were synthesized by solid state reaction. X-ray diffraction results indicate that the samples are single phase nature and orthorhombic structure. The unit cell volume increases with increase in the iron content. Electrical resistivity measurements showed the semiconducting nature of the iron substituted sample. Raman spectroscopy measurements at room temperature reveal that new Raman peaks emerge and shift towards lower wave number with increase in the iron content in the compound.
