Title: Solvothermal syntheses of three new one-dimensional ternary selenidostannates: [DBNH][M{sub 1/2}Sn{sub 1/2}Se{sub 2}] (M=Mn, Zn, Hg)

Three new ternary selenidostannates [DBNH][M{sub 1/2}Sn{sub 1/2}Se{sub 2}] (M=Mn (1), Zn (2), Hg (3); DBN=1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-5-ene) have been synthesized under solvothermal condition. Single crystal X-ray analyses reveal that compounds 1–3 crystallize in the tetragonal space group P4{sub 2}/ncm. The structures of 1–3 feature a similar straight one-dimensional [M{sub 1/2}Sn{sub 1/2}Se{sub 2}]{sub n}{sup n−} chain, which is built up by edge-sharing M{sub 1/2}Sn{sub 1/2}Se{sub 4} tetrahedra. The transition metal ions (e.g. Mn{sup 2+} (1), Zn{sup 2+} (2), Hg{sup 2+} (3)) and Sn{sup 4+} ions are located at the same metal site in a mixed-metal phase with a ratio of 0.5/0.5. The band gaps of compounds 2 (2.42 eV) and 3 (2.46 eV) were calculated from the solid state UV–vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy. - Graphical abstract: Three new one-dimensional ternary selenidostannates, [DBNH][M{sub 1/2}Sn{sub 1/2}Se{sub 2}] (M=Mn (1), Zn (2), Hg (3); DBN =1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-5-ene), have been synthesized under solvothermal condition.
