Title: Comment on “Dimpling in critical current density vs. magnetic field angle in YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7} films irradiated with 3-MeV gold ions” [J. Appl. Phys. 114, 233911 (2013)]

We provide an alternative explanation for the results of Matsui et al. [J. Appl. Phys. 114, 233911 (2013)] by considering the effects of disorder on flux pinning.
