Abstract

CaV2P2(H4O7)2 crystallizes in the triclinic P1 space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Ca2+ is bonded in a 7-coordinate geometry to seven O2- atoms. There are a spread of Ca–O bond distances ranging from 2.42–2.56 Å. There are two inequivalent V4+ sites. In the first V4+ site, V4+ is bonded in a 6-coordinate geometry to six O2- atoms. There are a spread of V–O bond distances ranging from 1.64–2.43 Å. In the second V4+ site, V4+ is bonded in a 5-coordinate geometry to five O2- atoms. There are a spread of V–O bond distances ranging from 1.63–2.04 Å. There are two inequivalent P5+ sites. In the first P5+ site, P5+ is bonded in a tetrahedral geometry to four O2- atoms. In the fifth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted trigonal planar geometry to one V4+, one P5+, and one H1+ atom. In the sixth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a 3-coordinate geometry to one Ca2+, one V4+, and one P5+ atom. In the seventh O2- site, O2- is bonded in a distorted bent 150 degrees geometry to one V4+ and one P5+ atom. In the eighth O2- site, O2- is bonded in a bent 120 degrees geometry to one V4+ and one P5+ atom.
