A recent analysis by T{umlt o}rnqvist and Roos suggests that the {sigma} meson has a mass of 860 MeV with a width of 880 MeV. In this work we calculate the properties of the {sigma} meson using a generalized Nambu{endash}Jona-Lasinio model that includes a model of confinement. We describe, in some detail, how the {sigma} coupling to states in the two-pion continuum may be calculated, when using a Lorentz-vector confining interaction. The VPP-interaction form factor and the low-energy theorems in the effective chiral Lagrangians based on the extended Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model

In this paper the problem of simultaneous description of the low-energy theorems for the {pi}{pi}-scattering amplitude and that which connects the {gamma} {yields} 3{pi} and {pi}{sup 0} {yields} {gamma}{gamma} decay amplitudes is discussed in the framework of the effective chiral Lagrangians. It is shown that to satisfy these low-energy theorems it is necessary to shift the vector-meson fields. This shift leads to the nontrivial form factor of the VPP interaction, which vanishes at the low-energy limit. An additional result of this shift is the appearance of unphysical interactions from the effective Wess-Zumino Lagrangian, which slightly violate low-energy theorems. It ismore »« less

The electromagnetic form factors of the SU(3) octet baryons are investigated in the semibosonized SU(3) Nambu{endash}Jona-Lasinio model (chiral quark-soliton model). The rotational 1/{ital N}{sub {ital c}} and strange quark mass corrections in linear order are taken into account. The electromagnetic charge radii of the nucleon and magnetic moments are also evaluated. Gauge invariance and confinement in a generalized Nambu{endash}Jona-Lasinio model

We discuss the quark-antiquark loop diagrams of an extended version of the Nambu{endash}Jona-Lasinio (NJL) model that includes a description of confinement. We show how the constraints of gauge invariance affect the calculations of such diagrams, if the {ital q{bar q}} system has the quantum numbers of the rho or omega mesons. In the NJL model without confinement, gauge invariance may be maintained by using a regularization scheme that respects that symmetry. Alternatively, gauge-invariance constraints may be imposed by introducing a substraction procedure when evaluating the {ital q{bar q}} loop integrals (vacuum polarization diagrams). Baryon structure in a quark-confining nonlocal Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model

We study the nucleon and diquarks in a nonlocal Nambu-Jona-Lasinio model. For certain parameters the model exhibits quark confinement, in the form of a propagator without real poles. After truncation of the two-body channels to the scalar and axial-vector diquarks, a relativistic Faddeev equation for nucleon bound states is solved in the covariant diquark-quark picture. The dependence of the nucleon mass on diquark masses is studied in detail. We find parameters that lead to a simultaneous reasonable description of pions and nucleons.
