NREL Data Center Cuts Water Use in Half With Hybrid Thermosyphon System
Abstract
In 2016, NREL installed a thermosyphon hybrid cooling system to reduce water use in the already extremely energy efficient data center at the Energy Systems Integration Facility. In this video, NREL Computational Science Center Director Steve Hammond describes how the system has successfully cut onsite water use in half without negative impacts to the data center’s energy efficient operation.
