Title: Solidification of Continuous Sludge Leaching Product

Abstract

Bill Wilmarth from SRNL provides a walk through of current studies and methods used to solidify continuous sludge leaching. The approach taken was to develop simulants for initial testing, select a set of waste form options, batch waste forms, measure selected properties of waste forms, compare results of options, integrate results from other EM-31 concurrent tasks, and select the most promising option(s). The five options selected were: (1) Iron Phosphate Glass; (2) Borosilicate Glass; (3) Steam Reformed product; (4) Geopolymers; and (5) Saltstone/Cast stone.
