AdS8 solutions in type II supergravity

Title: AdS₈ solutions in type II supergravity

Abstract

We find non-supersymmetric AdS$$_8$$ solutions of type IIA supergravity. The internal space is topologically an $S^2$ with a U(1) isometry. The only non-zero flux is $$F_0$$; an O8 sourcing it is present at the equator of the $S^2$. The warping function and dilaton are non-constant. It is also possible to add D8-branes on top of the O8. Possible destabilizing brane bubbles (whose presence would be suggested by the weak-gravity conjecture) are either absent or collapsing. Our solutions are candidate holographic duals to unitary interacting CFTs in seven dimensions with exceptional global symmetry. We also present analogous non-supersymmetric AdS$$_{d}$$ solutions for general $$d$$ which are supported only by $$F_0$$.

We find AdS₅ solutions holographically dual to compactifications of six- dimensional N = (1, 0) supersymmetric field theories on Riemann surfaces with punctures. We simplify a previous analysis of supersymmetric AdS₅ IIA solutions, and with a suitable Ansatz we find explicit solutions organized in three classes, where an O8-D8 stack, D6-and D4-branes are simultaneously present, localized and partially localized. The D4-branes are smeared over the Riemann surface and this is interpreted as the presence of a uniform distribution of punctures. For the first class we identify the corresponding six-dimensional theory as an E-string theory coupled to a quiver gauge theory.more »« less

Type IIB supergravity solutions with AdS₅ from Abelian and non-Abelian T dualities

Here, we present a large class of new backgrounds that are solutions of type IIB supergravity with a warped AdS₅ factor, non-trivial axion-dilaton, B-field and three-form Ramond-Ramond flux but yet have no five-form flux. We obtain these solutions and many of their variations by judiciously applying non-Abelian and Abelian T-dualities, as well as coordinate shifts to AdS₅ × X ₅ IIB supergravity solutions with X ₅ = S ⁵ , T ^1,1 , Y ^p,q. Dynamical D4-D8 and D3-D7 branes in supergravity

We present a class of dynamical solutions for intersecting D4-D8 and D3-D7 brane systems in ten-dimensional type IIA and IIB supergravity. We discuss if these solutions can be recovered in lower-dimensional effective theories for the warped compactification of a general p-brane system. It is found that an effective p+1-dimensional description is not possible in general due to the entanglement of the transverse coordinates and the p+1-dimensional coordinates in the metric components. AdS spacetime in warped spacetimes

We obtain a large class of AdS spacetimes warped with certain internal spaces in 11-dimensional and type IIA or IIB supergravities. The warp factors depend only on the internal coordinates. These solutions arise as the near-horizon geometries of more general semilocalized multi-intersections of p-branes. We achieve this by noting that any sphere (or AdS spacetime) of dimension greater than 3 can be viewed as a foliation involving S{sup 3} (or AdS{sub 3}). New supersymmetric AdS{sub 3} solutions

We construct infinite new classes of supersymmetric solutions of D=11 supergravity that are warped products of AdS{sub 3} with an eight-dimensional manifold M{sub 8} and have nonvanishing four-form flux. In order to be compact, M{sub 8} is constructed as an S{sup 2} bundle over a six-dimensional manifold B{sub 6} which is either Kaehler-Einstein or a product of Kaehler-Einstein spaces. In the special cases that B{sub 6} contains a two-torus, we also obtain new AdS{sub 3} solutions of type IIB supergravity, with constant dilaton and only five-form flux.
