Abstract

This is an erratum to the paper entitled ‘A Detection of the Baryon Acoustic Oscillation Features in the SDSS BOSS DR12 Galaxy Bispectrum’, published in MNRAS, 2018, 478. In the course of preparing a follow-up work it was noticed that we reported the incorrect Z₂(k₁,k₂) kernel. Here, while preparing the original paper, we tested numerous models and were simultaneously writing the manuscript.

We present the first high significance detection (4.1σ) of the Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) feature in the galaxy bispectrum of the twelfth data release (DR12) of the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey (BOSS) CMASS sample (0.43≤z≤0.7). We measured the scale dilation parameter, α, using the power spectrum, bispectrum, and both simultaneously for DR12, plus 2048 MultiDark-PATCHY mocks in the North and South Galactic Caps (NGC and SGC, respectively), and the volume weighted averages of those two samples (N+SGC). Detection of Baryon Acoustic Oscillation features in the large-scale 3-point correlation function of SDSS BOSS DR12 CMASS galaxies

We present the large-scale 3-point correlation function (3PCF) of the SDSS DR12 CMASS sample of 777,202 Luminous Red Galaxies, the largest-ever sample used for a 3PCF or bispectrum measurement. We make the first high-significance (4.5σ) detection of Baryon Acoustic Oscillations (BAO) in the 3PCF. Using these acoustic features in the 3PCF as a standard ruler, we measure the distance to z=0.57 to 1.7% precision (statistical plus systematic). We find D_V = 2024 ± 29Mpc (stat) ± 20Mpc(sys) for our fiducial cosmology (consistent with Planck 2015) and bias model. The clustering of galaxies in the SDSS-III Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey: RSD measurement from the power spectrum and bispectrum of the DR12 BOSS galaxies

In this paper, we measure and analyse the bispectrum of the final data release 12 (DR12), galaxy sample provided by the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey, splitting by selection algorithm into LOWZ and CMASS galaxies. The LOWZ sample contains 361 762 galaxies with an effective redshift of ^zLOWZ = 0.32, and the CMASS sample contains 777 202 galaxies with an effective redshift of ^zCMASS = 0.57. Combining the power spectrum, measured relative to the line of sight, with the spherically averaged bispectrum, we are able to constrain the product of the growth of structure parameter, ƒ, and the amplitude of dark matter density fluctuations, σ₈, along with the geometric Alcock–Paczynski parameters, the product of the Hubble constant and the comoving sound horizon at the baryon drag epoch, H(z)r_s(z_d), and the angular distance parameter divided by the sound horizon, D_A(z)/r_s(z_d). After combining pre-reconstruction RSD analyses of the power spectrum monopole, quadrupole and bispectrum monopole with post-reconstruction analysis of the BAO power spectrum monopole and quadrupole, we find ƒ(^zLOWZ)σ₈(^zLOWZ) = 0.427 ± 0.056, D_A(^zLOWZ)/r_s(z_d) = 6.60 ± 0.13, H(^zLOWZ)r_s(z_d) = (11.55 ± 0.38)10³ km s^-1 for the LOWZ sample, and f(zCMASS)σ8(zCMASS) = 0.426 ± 0.029, D_A(^zCMASS)/r_s(z_d) = 9.39 ± 0.10, H(^zCMASS)r_s(z_d) = (14.02 ± 0.22)10³ km s^-1 for the CMASS sample. BOSS DR12 full-shape cosmology: Λ CDM constraints from the large-scale galaxy power spectrum and bispectrum monopole

Here, we present a full Λ CDM analysis of the BOSS DR12 dataset, including information from the power spectrum multipoles, the real-space power spectrum, the reconstructed power spectrum and the bispectrum monopole. This is the first analysis to feature a complete treatment of the galaxy bispectrum, including a consistent theoretical model and without large-scale cuts. Unlike previous works, the statistics are measured using window-free estimators: this greatly reduces computational costs by removing the need to window-convolve the theory model. Our pipeline is tested using a suite of high-resolution mocks and shown to be robust and precise, with systematic errors far below the statistical thresholds. Inclusion of the bispectrum yields consistent parameter constraints and shrinks the σ 8 posterior by 13% to reach < 5 % precision; less conservative analysis choices would reduce the error bars further. Here, we use flux-transmission correlations in Lyα forests to measure the imprint of baryon acoustic oscillations (BAO). The study uses spectra of 157,783 quasars in the redshift range 2.1 ≤ z ≤ 3.5 from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS) Data Release 12 (DR12).
