Parity-violating asymmetry in the ${}^{3}{He}$ ( $n⃗, p$ ) ${}^{3}H$ reaction

The longitudinal asymmetry induced by parity-violating (PV) components in the nucleon-nucleon potential is studied in the charge-exchange reaction 3He(~n, p)3H at vanishing incident neutron energies. An expression for the PV observable is derived in terms of T-matrix elements for transitions from the 2S+1LJ = 1S0 and 3S1 states in the incoming n-3He channel to states with J = 0 and 1 in the outgoing p-3H channel. The T-matrix elements involving PV transitions are obtained in first-order perturbation theory in the hadronic weak-interaction potential, while those connecting states of the same parity are derived from solutions of the strong-interaction Hamiltonian withmore »« less

${}^{3}{He} (α, γ) {}^{7}{Be}$ and ${}^{3}H (α, γ) {}^{7}{Li}$ astrophysical S factors from the no-core shell model with continuum

The ³He(α,γ)⁷Be and ³H(α,γ)⁷Li astrophysical S factors are calculated within the no-core shell model with continuum using a renormalized chiral nucleon–nucleon interaction. The ³He(α,γ)⁷Be astrophysical S factors agree reasonably well with the experimental data while the ³H(α,γ)⁷Li ones are overestimated. The seven-nucleon bound and resonance states and the α + ³He/³H elastic scattering are also studied and compared with experiment. Here, the low-lying resonance properties are rather well reproduced by our approach. At low energies, the s-wave phase shift, which is non-resonant, is overestimated.
