The phase transformation and magnetic properties of nanocomposite (Nd{sub 0.95}La{sub 0.05}){sub 9.5}(Fe{sub 1{minus}x}Cr{sub x}){sub 81.5}B{sub 9}, where x=0, 0.033, 0.067, and 0.1, melt{endash}spun ribbons have been studied. For Cr-free ribbons (i.e, x=0,) a slight substitution of La for Nd decreases the crystallization temperature of the over-quenched ribbons. Moreover, the (Nd,La){sub 3}Fe{sub 62}B{sub 14} and (Nd,La){sub 2}Fe{sub 23}B{sub 3} phases were found to coexist with (Nd,La){sub 2}Fe{sub 14}B/Fe{sub 3}B/{alpha}-Fe phases in the crystallized (Nd{sub 0.95}La{sub 0.05}){sub 9.5}Fe{sub 81.5}B{sub 9} ribbons. Flux pinning enhancement in melt processed YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} through rare-earth ion (Nd, La) substitutions

Stoichiometric YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} (Y123) samples doped with excess Nd{sub 2}O{sub 3} and La{sub 2}O{sub 3} additions were melt processed in air. Because decomposition and reformation of 123 occurs during melt processing, lighter rare-earth ion substitution in 123 takes place. As the lighter rare-earth ion sizes (Nd, La) are comparable to that of Ba{sup 2+}, in addition to Y ion site substitution, partial substitution into the Ba{sup 2+} sites is also anticipated. Metamagnetism and kinetic arrest in a long-range ferromagnetically ordered multicaloric double perovskite Y₂CoMnO₆

A systematic magnetic study of the double perovskite oxide Y₂CoMnO₆(YCMO) has been performed. A monoclinic P21/n phase of YCMO was synthesized using a sol-gel method. Neutron diffraction (ND) measurements evidence the onset of long-range ferromagnetic (FM) ordering at TC ~ 76 K, which persists down to 5 K. The presence of 25% antisite disorder, estimated from the ND data, leads to the appearance of short-range antiferromagnetic (AFM) interactions. Revival of Metal-Insulator and Ferromagnetic-Paramagnetic Transitions by Ni Substitution at Mn Site in Charge-Ordered Monovalent Doped Nd{sub 0.75}Na{sub 0.25}MnO{sub 3} Manganites

Nd{sub 0.75}Na{sub 0.25}Mn{sub 1−x}Ni{sub x}O{sub 3} (x = 0 − 0.07) were synthesized using a conventional solid-state synthesis method to investigate the effect of Ni substitution on their magnetic and electrical transport properties. XRD analysis using the Rietvield refinement method showed an increase in unit cell volume with increasing Ni content, indicating the possibility of substituting Ni for the Mn site.
