In this paper, we demonstrated a trace double-component gas detection system based on frequency division multiplexing using two-way distributed feedback laser diode (DFB-LD) as the excitation laser source. In the frequency response range of photoacoustic spectroscopy (PAS) cell, this detection system could detect the second harmonics of different frequencies f{sub 0} and f{sub 1}, which were excited by the gas absorption using the two wavelengths of DFB-LD at modulation frequencies f{sub 0}/2 and f{sub 1}/2. Heavy metal ions released into the environment from industrial processes lead to various health hazards. We propose an on-chip label-free detection approach that allows high-sensitivity and high-throughput detection of heavy metals. The sensing device consists of 2-dimensional photonic crystal microcavities that are combined by multimode interferometer to form a sensor array. Here, we experimentally demonstrate the detection of cadmium-chelate conjugate with concentration as low as 5 parts-per-billion (ppb).

Uniformly dispersed CdS nanoparticles sensitized TiO{sub 2} nanotube arrays with enhanced visible-light photocatalytic activity and stability

In this study, TiO{sub 2} nanotube arrays (TiO{sub 2}-NTs) with various intertube spaces were fabricated in the electrolyte with different water contents and the CdS nanoparticles (CdS NPs) were further deposited onto the TiO{sub 2}-NTs as a sensitizer via a sequential chemical bath deposition (S-CBD) method.
