Title: A metastable Ru III azido complex with metallo-Staudinger reactivity

Abstract

One-electron oxidation of [(Py 5 Me 2 )Ru II (N 3 )] + to [(Py 5 Me 2 )Ru III (N 3 )] 2+ switches on metallo-Staudinger reactivity towards PPh 3 , forming [(Py 5 Me 2 )Ru II (N(H)PPh 3 )] 2+ through a putative [Ru–NNN–PPh 3 ] intermediate.
