Sudakov suppression in the soft heavy to light meson transition form factor

The authors calculate hard gluon contribution to the decay vertex that determines the heavy-to-light meson transition form factor at large recoil. It is found that resulting Sudakov suppression significantly decreases the soft, wave function dependent contribution to the form factor. Phenomenological implications of these findings are discussed.

Sudakov suppression in the soft heavy to light meson transition form factor

We calculate the hard gluon contribution to the decay vertex that determines the heavy-to-light meson transition form factor at large recoil. It is found that the resulting Sudakov suppression significantly decreases the soft, wave function dependent contribution to the form factor. Factorization at subleading power, Sudakov resummation, and endpoint divergences in soft-collinear effective theory

Starting from the first renormalized factorization theorem for a process described at subleading power in soft-collinear effective theory, we discuss the resummation of Sudakov logarithms for such processes in renormalization-group improved perturbation theory. Endpoint divergences in convolution integrals, which arise generically beyond leading power, are regularized and removed by systematically rearranging the factorization formula. In addition, we study in detail the example of the b-quark induced h → γγ decay of the Higgs boson, for which we resum large logarithms of the ratio M_h/m_b at next-to-leading logarithmic order. We also briefly discuss the related gg → h amplitude.

Sudakov Expansions and Top Quark Physics at LHC

We review some peculiar features of Sudakov expansions in the calculation of electroweak radiative corrections in the MSSM at high energy. We give specific examples and consider in particular the process bg {yields} tW of single top quark production relevant for the top quark physics programme at LHC.
