Title: Observation of a new charged charmoniumlike state in ${\bar{B}}^{0} \to J / ψ K^{-} π^{+}$ decays

Abstract

We present the results of an amplitude analysis of B^¯0→J/ψK^-π⁺ decays. A new charged charmoniumlike state Z_c(4200)⁺ decaying to J/ψπ⁺ is observed with a significance of 6.2σ. The mass and width of the Z_c(4200)⁺ are 4196⁺³¹_-29⁺¹⁷_-13 MeV/c² and 370⁺⁷⁰_-70⁺⁷⁰_-132 MeV, respectively; the preferred assignment of the quantum numbers is JP=1⁺. In addition, we find evidence for Z_c(4430)⁺→J/ψπ⁺. The analysis is based on a 711 fb^-1 data sample collected by the Belle detector at the asymmetric-energy e⁺e^- collider KEKB.

Evidence for Exotic Hadron Contributions to $Λ_{b}^{0} \to J / ψ p π^{-}$ Decays

A full amplitude analysis of Λ⁰_b→J/ψpπ^– decays is performed with a data sample acquired with the LHCb detector from 7 and 8 TeV pp collisions, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^–1. A significantly better description of the data is achieved when, in addition to the previously observed nucleon excitations N→pπ^–, either the P_c(4380)⁺ and P_c(4450)⁺→J/ψp states, previously observed in Λ⁰_b→J/ψpK^– decays, or the Z_c(4200)^–→J/ψπ^– state, previously reported in B⁰→J/ψK⁺π^– decays, or all three, are included in the amplitude models. The data support a model containing all three exotic states, with a significance of more than three standard deviations.more »« less

It is suggested that the recently reported charged charmoniumlike resonance Z_c(4100) and the previously observed Z_c(4200) are two states of hadrocharmonium, related by the charm quark spin symmetry in the same way as the lowest charmonium states η_c and J/ψ. Namely, the Z_c(4100) is (dominantly) the η_c embedded in a light-quark excitation with quantum numbers of a pion, while the Z_c(4200) is a similar four quark state containing J/ψ instead of η_c.
