While polyoxometal arsonates that are structural derivatives of their arsenate counterparts have been known for some time, the isostructural phosphonate-for-phosphate substitution in polyoxometalate structures has not been found. In the title compound, two circular hexanuclear molybdenum(V) polyoxo phenylphosphonate anions are assembled around a sodium cation. This assembly is isostructural with previously reported Na[Mo[sup V][sub 6]O[sub 15](HPO[sub 4])(H[sub 2]PO[sub 4])[sub 3]][sub 2][sup 9-] and is the first example of isostructural substitution in a polyoxometal phosphate system.
Low-Lying Energy Isomers and Global Minima of Aqueous Nanoclusters: Structures and Spectroscopic Features of the Pentagonal Dodecahedron (H2O)20 and (H3O)+(H2O)20

We rely on a hierarchy of methods to identify the low-lying isomers for the pentagonal dodecahedron (H2O)20 and the H3O+(H2O)20 clusters. Initial screening of isomers was performed with classical potentials [TIP4P, TTM2-F, TTM2.1-F for (H2O)20 and ASP for H3O+(H2O)20] and the networks obtained with those potentials were subsequently reoptimized at the DFT (B3LYP) and MP2 levels of theory. For the pentagonal dodecahedron (H2O)20 it was found that DFT (B3LYP) and MP2 produced the same global minimum. Reaction of MN(C₆F₅)₂ (M=Na, K) with transition metal halides results in the formation of transition metal complexes incorporating decafluorodiphenylamido ligands. TiCl₃(THF)₃ reacts with 3 equiv. NaN(C₆F₅)₂ to yield the ‘metallate’ complex {Na(THF)₂}{Ti[N(C₆F₅)₂]₄} (1). Single crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal a tetrahedral titanium center complexed by four decafluorodiphenylamido ligands; while two THF ligands and four fluorine atoms coordinate the sodium cation.
