We demonstrate the correlation between sintering behavior and microstructural observations in low-temperature sintered, LaNbO{sub 4} microwave ceramics. Small CuO additions to LaNbO{sub 4} significantly lowered the sintering temperature from 1250 to 950 {sup o}C. To elucidate the sintering mechanism, the internal microstructure of the sample manipulated by a focused ion beam (FIB) was investigated using transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and energy-dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). CaTi{sub 1-x}(Fe{sub 0.5}Nb{sub 0.5}) {sub x}O{sub 3} (0 {<=} x {<=} 1) dielectrics were synthesized via the solid state reaction route and structure analysis was performed together with the dielectric characterization. The substitution of Ti{sup 4+} by Fe{sup 3+}/Nb{sup 5+} and developed phase were studied by X-ray diffraction. The dielectric constant and temperature coefficient of resonant frequency decrease rapidly with an increase of x. Low-temperature sintering and compatibility with silver electrode of Ba{sub 4}MgTi{sub 11}O{sub 27} microwave dielectric ceramic

Ba{sub 4}MgTi{sub 11}O{sub 27} microwave dielectric ceramic was investigated using X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy and dielectric measurement. The pure Ba{sub 4}MgTi{sub 11}O{sub 27} ceramic shows a high sintering temperature ({approx}1275 {sup o}C) and good microwave dielectric properties as Q x f of 19,630 GHz, {epsilon}{sub r} of 36.1, {tau}{sub f} of 14.6 ppm/{sup o}C. It was found that the addition of BaCu(B{sub 2}O{sub 5}) (BCB) can effectively lower the sintering temperature from 1275 to 925 {sup o}C, and does not induce much degradation of the microwave dielectric properties. In this study, in order to develop low temperature sintering ceramics for a thickness mode multilayer piezoelectric transformer, (Pb,Ca,Sr)(Ti,Mn,Sb)O{sub 3} ceramics were fabricated using Na{sub 2}CO{sub 3}, Li{sub 2}CO{sub 3}, MnO{sub 2}, and Bi{sub 2}O{sub 3} as sintering aids at 870, 900, and 930 deg.
