Simulation of vector boson plus many jet final states at the high luminosity LHC

Title: Simulation of vector boson plus many jet final states at the high luminosity LHC

Abstract

We introduce a novel event-generation framework for the efficient simulation of vector boson plus multijet backgrounds at the high-luminosity LHC and at possible future hadron colliders. Message passing interface parallelization of parton-level and particle-level event generation and storage of parton-level event information using the HDF5 data format allow us to gain leading-order merged Monte Carlo predictions with up to nine jets in the final state. The parton-level event samples generated in this manner correspond to an integrated luminosity of 3 ab^-1 and are made publicly available for future phenomenological studies.

This paper presents updated Monte Carlo configurations used to model the production of single electroweak vector bosons (W, Z/γ*) in association with jets in proton-proton collisions for the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Improvements pertaining to the electroweak input scheme, parton-shower splitting kernels and scale-setting scheme are shown for multi-jet merged configurations accurate to next-to-leading order in the strong and electroweak couplings. Soft gluon resummation in Higgs boson plus two jet production at the LHC

The soft gluon resummation effect in the Higgs boson plus two-jet production at the LHC is studied by applying the transverse momentum dependent factorization formalism. The large logarithms, introduced by the small total transverse momentum of the Higgs boson plus two-jet final state system, are resummed to all orders in the expansion of the strong interaction coupling with the accuracy of Next-to-Leading Logarithm order. Study of Z boson plus jets events using variables sensitive to double-parton scattering in pp collisions at 13 TeV

Double-parton scattering is investigated using events with a Z boson and jets. The Z boson is reconstructed using only the dimuon channel. The measurements are performed with proton-proton collision data recorded by the CMS experiment at the LHC at s√ = 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 35.9 fb^-1 collected in the year 2016. Differential cross sections of Z+ ≥1 jet and Z+ ≥2 jets are measured with transverse momentum of the jets above 20 GeV and pseudorapidity |η| < 2.4. Prospects for Charged Higgs Bosons in Natural SUSY Models at the High-Luminosity LHC

We continue our examination of prospects for the discovery of heavy Higgs bosons of natural SUSY (natSUSY) models at the high luminosity LHC (HL-LHC), this time focusing on charged Higgs bosons. In natSUSY, higgsinos are expected at the few hundred GeV scale whilst electroweak gauginos inhabit the TeV scale and the heavy Higgs bosons, H, A and H± could range up tens of TeV without jeopardizing naturalness. For TeV-scale heavy SUSY Higgs bosons H, A and H±, as currently required by LHC searches, SUSY decays into gaugino plus higgsino can dominate H± decays provided these decays are kinematically accessible.
