Title: Observation of $e^{+} e^{-} \to γ χ_{c 1}$ and search for $e^{+} e^{-} \to γ χ_{c 0}$ , $γ χ_{c 2}$ , and $γ η_{c}$ at $\sqrt{s}$ near 10.6 GeV at Belle

Abstract

Using data samples of 89.5 fb^-1, 711.0 fb^-1, and 121.4 fb^-1 collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e⁺e^- collider at center-of-mass energies 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV,and 10.867 GeV, respectively, we study the exclusive reactions e⁺e^- → γχ_cj (J = 0, 1, 2) and e⁺e^-→ γη_c. A significant γχ_c1 signal is observed for the first time at cJ s = 10.58 GeV with a significance of 5.1σ including systematic uncertainties. No significant excesses for γχ_c0, γχ_c2, and γη_c final states are found, and we set 90% credibility level upper limits on the Born cross sections (σ_B) at 10.52 GeV, 10.58 GeV, and 10.867 GeV. Together with cross sections measured by BESIII-+at lower center-of-mass energies, the energy dependency of σ_B(e⁺ e^- → γχ_c1 ) is obtained.

The process e⁺e^– → γχ_cJ (J = 1, 2) is studied via initial state radiation using 980 fb^–1 of data at and around the Υ(nS) (n = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) resonances collected with the Belle detector at the KEKB asymmetric-energy e⁺e^– collider. Here, no significant signal is observed except from ψ(2S) decays. Upper limits on the cross sections between √s = 3.80 and 5.56 GeV are determined at the 90% credibility level, which range from a few pb to a few tens of pb. Measurement of higher-order multipole amplitudes in $ψ (3686) \to γ χ_{c 1, 2}$ with $χ_{c 1, 2} \to γ J / ψ$ and search for the transition $η_{c} (2 S) \to γ J / ψ$

Using 106 ×10⁶ ψ (3686) events collected with the BESIII detector, we measure multipole amplitudes for the decay ψ (3686) → γχ_c1,2 → γγ J/ψ beyond the dominant electric-dipole amplitudes. The normalized magnetic-quadrupole (M2) amplitude for ψ (3686) → γχ_c1,2 → γγ J/ψ and the normalized electric-octupole amplitudes for ψ ( 3686 ) → γχ_c2, χ_c2 → γJ/ψ are determined. The M2 amplitudes for ψ (3686) → γ χ_c1 and χ_c1,2 → γ J / ψ are found to differ significantly from zero and are consistent with theoretical predictions.
