Abstract Koordinationspolymere (coordination polymers, CPs) und supramolekulare Metallopolymere (supramolecular metallopolymers, SMPs) sind seit Jahrzehnten Gegenstand ausgiebiger Forschung. Spektakuläre Fortschritte in beiden Feldern haben neue Verbindungen hervorgebracht, die an der Grenze zwischen diesen beiden organisch‐anorganischen Gebieten liegen. An dieser Schnittstelle wurden Materialien entwickelt auf Basis unterschiedlicher Konzepte wie molekularem Flechten, supramolekularen Clustern und Hybriden aus Metall‐organischen Gerüstverbindungen und Polymeren. Dieser Kurzaufsatz gewährt einen Einblick in die intellektuelle Entstehung sowie die Verbindungen zwischen verschiedenen supramolekularen Konstrukten und den Stand der Wissenschaft bezüglich neuer Materialien an dieser Schnittstelle.
