Perpendicular magnetic anisotropy (PMA) in multilayer thin films promotes the development of spintronic and magnonic research fields. The origin of the PMA deserves a thorough investigation since it contains rich physics related to multiple factors in the heterostructure system. In this report, we study the origin of PMA in La_2/3Sr_1/3 Mn O₃ (LSMO) thin films sandwiched by La_1-xSr_xCoO_3-δ (LSCO) layers grown on SrTiO₃ substrate, using aberration-corrected scanning transmission electron microscopy. Our findings indicate that the lattice and electronic structures of LSMO can be modified through the inhomogeneous strains induced by nanodomains in LSCO layers. Mixing $A$ -type and $G$ -type $B$ -site antiferromagnetism in $A M n_{1 - x} F e_{x} O_{3} (A = La, Nd)$

Using a classical Heisenberg model with anisotropic nearest-neighbor superexchange and uniaxial anisotropy, I investigate the magnetic order of the transition metals on the B sites in AMn_1-xFe_xO₃(A=La, Nd; x=[0,1]) with Monte Carlo methods. Magnetic parameters are extracted from preexisting experimental data when available and otherwise estimated with calculations. Superexchange energies are compared to density functional theory and anisotropy energies to ligand field theory, and the potential for doping-induced strain affecting these parameters is considered.
