Abstract

A single electron reduction of an iron bis(verdazyl) complex results in a large change in spin multiplicity resulting from a combination of spin crossover and exceptionally strong ferromagnetic exchange.

Strong spin-dependent delocalization (double exchange) was previously demonstrated for the complexes, NN-Bridge-SQ-Co^III(py)₂Cat-Bridge-NN (where NN = S = 1/2 nitronylnitroxide, Bridge = 1,4-phenylene and single bond, SQ = S = 1/2 orthobenzosemiquinone, Co^III = low-spin d⁶ cobalt 3+, and Cat = diamagnetic catecholate). The mixed-valent S = 1/2 SQ-Co^III-Cat triad results in ferromagnetic alignment of localized (pinned) NN spins which are ~22Å apart (Bridge = Ph). Abstract Low‐energy spectra of single‐molecule magnets (SMMs) are often described by Heisenberg Hamiltonians. Within this formalism, exchange interactions between magnetic centers determine the ground‐state multiplicity and energy separation between the ground and excited states. In this contribution, we extract exchange coupling constants ( J ) for a set of iron (III) binuclear and tetranuclear complexes from all‐electron calculations using non‐collinear spin‐flip time‐dependent density functional theory (NC‐SF‐TDDFT). Magnetic behavior of halobis(diethyldiselenocarbamato)iron(III): Interactions, anisotropy, and three-dimensional XY ferromagnetism

The chloro, bromo, and iodo derivatives of the complex specified in the title have been examined by Moessbauer spectroscopy and by magnetic susceptibility and magnetization measurements. All derivatives have orbital singlet, spin quartet ground states. Moessbauer spectra are consistent with positive-D crystal-field parameters in each case. Cooperative transitions are observed in the chloro and bromo derivatives at 3.5 +- 0.05 and 2.7 +- 0.05 K, respectively. Below these temperatures the Moessbauer spectrum consists of a magnetic hfs component together with an unsplit quadrupole doublet whose intensity, relative to the magnetic hfs, decreases with decreasing temperature. Exchange bias switching in an antiferromagnet/ferromagnet bilayer driven by spin-orbit torque

Here the electrical manipulation of magnetization and exchange bias in antiferromagnet/ferromagnet thin films could be of use in the development of the next generation of spintronic devices. Current-controlled magnetization switching can be driven by spin-orbit torques generated in an adjacent heavy metal layer, but these structures are difficult to integrate with exchange bias switching and tunnelling magnetoresistance measurements.
