Absolute np and pp cross section determinations aimed at improving the standard for cross section measurements

Purpose of present research is a keeping improvement of the standard for cross section measurements of neutron-induced reactions. The cross sections for np and pp scattering below 1000 MeV are determined based on partial-wave analyses (PW As) of nucleon-nucleon scattering data. These cross sections are compared with the most recent ENDF/B-V11.0 and JENDL-4.0 data files, and the Nijmegen PWA. Also a comparison of evaluated data with recent experimental data was made to check a quality of evaluation. Excellent agreement was found between the new experimental data and our PWA predictions.

ENDF/B-VIII.0: The 8^th Major Release of the Nuclear Reaction Data Library with CIELO-project Cross Sections, New Standards and Thermal Scattering Data

We describe the new ENDF/B-VIII.0 evaluated nuclear reaction data library. ENDF/B-VIII.0 fully incorporates the new IAEA standards, includes improved thermal neutron scattering data and uses new evaluated data from the CIELO project for neutron reactions on H-1, O-16, Fe-56, U-235, U-238 and Pu-239 described in companion papers in the present issue of Nuclear Data Sheets. The evaluations benefit from recent experimental data obtained in the U.S. and Europe, and improvements in theory and simulation. This report documents input files, output files and underlying assumptions for an uncertainty estimate for nuclear data evaluations purposes of the normalized ²³⁸U/²³⁵U neutron-induced fission cross-section ratios, ²³⁸U(n,f)/²³⁵U(n,f), measured by the NIFFTE fission Time Projection Chamber (fissionTPC). This uncertainty estimate and the resulting files were based on information provided by fissionTPC experimentalists, R.J.Casperson, N.S. Bowden, L. Snyder and K.T. Schmitt, and an EXFOR file compiled by N. Otuka. These files were generated for the Neutron Data Standards project coordinated by the IAEA in order to simplify the incorporation of ²³⁸U(n,f)/²³⁵U(n,f) fissionTPC data into the standards database.

Charged current neutrino cross section and tau energy loss at ultrahigh energies

We evaluate both the tau-lepton energy loss produced by photonuclear interactions and the neutrino charged current cross section at ultrahigh energies, relevant to neutrino bounds with Earth-skimming tau neutrinos, using different theoretical and phenomenological models for nucleon and nucleus structure functions. The theoretical uncertainty is estimated by taking different extrapolations of the structure function F{sub 2} to very low values of x, in the low and moderate Q{sup 2} range for the tau-lepton interaction and at high Q{sup 2} for the neutrino-nucleus inelastic cross section. Experimental Results on Ultrahigh-Energy Cosmic Rays and Asymptotic Behavior of the Total Cross Section for Nucleon–Nucleon Interaction

Results obtained by studying the energy dependence of the total cross section for nucleon–nucleon interaction are presented. The analytic parametrization proposed within axiomatic quantum field theory describes quantitatively a unified set of experimental data on proton–proton and antiproton–proton scattering. At collision energies above 86 GeV, the parameter values fitted to subsets of all available data and accelerator data alone were found to deviate from the respective asymptotic values. This indicates that the Froissart–Martin limit for the total cross section has not yet been reached in the case of these subsets.
