Constraints and Casimirs for Super Poincare and Supertranslation Algebras in various dimensions

We describe, for arbitrary dimensions the construction of a covariant and supersymmetric constraint for the massless Super Poincare algebra and we show that the constraint fixes uniquely the representation of the algebra. For the case of finite mass and in the absence of central charges we discuss a similar construction, which generalizes to arbitrary dimensions the concept of the superspin Casimir. Finally we discuss briefly the modifications introduced by central charges, both scalar and tensorial.

One interesting proposal to solve the black hole information loss paradox without modifying either general relativity or quantum field theory, is the soft hair, a diffeomorphism charge that records the anisotropic radiation in the asymptotic region. This proposal, however, has been challenged, given that away from the source the soft hair behaves as a coordinate transformation that forms an Abelian group, thus unable to store any information. Higher-dimensional supertranslations and Weinberg’s soft graviton theorem

Asymptotic symmetries of theories with gravity in d = 2m + 2 spacetime dimensions are reconsidered for m > 1 in light of recent results concerning d = 4 BMS symmetries. Weinberg’s soft graviton theorem in 2m+2 dimensions is re-expressed as a Ward identity for the gravitational S-matrix. The corresponding asymptotic symmetries are identified with 2m + 2-dimensional supertranslations. An alternate derivation of these asymptotic symmetries as diffeomorphisms which preserve finite-energy boundary conditions at null infinity and act non-trivially on physical data is given. Memory in de Sitter space and Bondi-Metzner-Sachs-like supertranslations

It is well known that the memory effect in flat spacetime is parametrized by the Bondi-Metzner-Sachs (BMS) supertranslation. We investigate the relation between the memory effect and diffeomorphism in de Sitter spacetime. We find that gravitational memory is parametrized by a BMS-like supertranslation in the static patch of de Sitter spacetime. We also show a diffeomorphism that corresponds to gravitational memory in the Poincare/cosmological patch. Our method does not need to assume the separation between the source and the detector to be small compared with the Hubble radius, and can potentially be applicable to other Friedmann-Lemaitre-Robertson-Walker universes, as well asmore »« less
