Theoretical investigations of isoscalar, isovector and mixed symmetry states in skin nuclei

We present recent investigations on dipole and quadrupole excitations in spherical skin nuclei, particular exploring their connection to the thickness of the neutron skin. Our theoretical method relies on density functional theory, which provides us with a proper link between nuclear many-body theory of the nuclear ground state and its phenomenological description. For the calculation of the nuclear excited states we apply QPM theory. A new quadrupole mode related to Pygmy Quadrupole Resonance in tin isotopes is suggested.

Interplay of effects of neutron skins in coordinate space and proton skins in momentum space on emission of hard photons in heavy-ion collisions near the Fermi energy

Within an isospin- and momentum-dependent Boltzmann-Uehling-Uhlenbeck transport model, we investigate the hard photons emission from neutron-proton bremsstrahlung in the reaction system of ²⁰⁸Pb + ²⁰⁸Pb around Fermi energy. Effects of neutron skins in coordinate (r) space and proton skins in momentum (k) space on the time evolution, the angular distribution, and the transverse momentum spectra of hard photons with different energies are studied. It is shown that the emission of direct hard photons is sensitive to the neutron skin, which has larger effects for more energetic hard photons. Isovector and spin symmetry energies at finite temperature with Skyrme interactions

The nuclear matter isovector and spin symmetry energy coefficients (s.e.c), respectively A{sub 0,1} and A{sub 1,0}, are investigated in the framework of the generalized nuclear polarizability with Skyrme interactions explicitly as functions of the temperature, as worked out in Refs. [1, 2]. The results for the (very small) variation of the isovector s.e.c, shown in Ref. [1], are compared explicitly with results from other groups. The variation of the spin s.e.c. is also very small.
