Reported herein are the synthesis and spectroscopic and electrochemical characterization of a series of mixed-metal bimetallic complexes of the form [(bpy){sub 2}M(BL)PtCl{sub 2}](PF{sub 6}){sub 2}(BL = dpq or dpb; M = Os{sup II} or Ru{sup II}).

Synthesis, X-ray crystal structure, optical properties and DFT studies of a new 2D layered iodide bridged Pb(II) coordination polymer with 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine

The synthesis of two dimensional (2D) coordination polymer [Pb{sub 2}(µ-I){sub 2}(µ-dpp-N,N,N,N)(µ-dpp-N,N)I{sub 2}]{sub n} (dpp=2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine) is reported. As determined by X-ray diffraction of a twinned crystal, the dpp ligand simultaneously adopts a bis–bidentate and bis–monodentate coordination mode in the crystal structure of compound. The electronic band structure along with density of states (DOS) calculated by the DFT method indicates that the compound is an indirect band gap semiconductor. According to the DFT calculations, the observed emission of the compound at 600 nm in solid phase could be attributed to arise from an excited LLCT state (dpp-π{sup ⁎} [C-2p and N-2p states,more »« less

Synthesis and characterization of tetraamminerruthenium(II) bound to the bridging ligand 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (dpp)

The synthesis, electronic absorption spectra, electrochemistry, /sup 13/C NMR spectra, and photochemistry of (NH/sub 3/)/sub 4/Ru(dpp)/sup 2 +/ and (NH/sub 3/)/sub 4/Ru(dpp)Ru(NH/sub 3/)/sub 4//sup 4 +/ are reported. The aqueous visible electronic absorption spectra show intense MLCT transitions occur at 454 and 545 nm for the monometallic complex and at 558 nm for the bimetallic complex. Cyclic voltammograms of (NH/sub 3/)/sub 4/Ru(dpp)/sup 2 +/ in CH/sub 3/CN/0.1 M TBAP show a reversible couple at E/sub 1/2/ = +1.01 V, and voltammograms of (NH/sub 3/)/sub 4/Ru(dpp)Ru(NH/sub 3/)/sub 4//sup 4 +/ show two couples at E/sub 1/2/(I) = +0.90 V and E/submore »« less

Complexes formed by the reaction of (n-Bu{sub 4}N)[MOCl{sub 4}] (M = Re, Tc) with the diamines 2,3-bis(2-pyridyl)pyrazine (DPP) and 2,3-bis(2--pyridyl)quinoxaline (DPQ) in ethanol were studied. With DPP as ligand, the monometallic complexes [MOCl{sub 2}(X)(DPP)] (M = Tc, Re; X = Cl, OEt) and the bimetallic compounds [MOCl{sub 2}(X)]({mu}-DPP)[MOCl{sub 2}(OEt)] (X = Cl for M = Tc; X = OEt for M = Re) were isolated. Infrared and {sup 1}H NMR data suggest that coordination of DPP to the metals occurs in a bidentate manner through one pyrazine and one pyrazine and one pyridine nitrogen atom to form a five-membered metallocycle.more »« less
