RuO2 nanoparticles supported on MnO2 nanorods (denoted as np-RuO2/nr-MnO2) were synthesized via a two-step hydrothermal reaction. SEM and TEM images both illustrated that RuO2 nanoparticles are well dispersed on the surface of MnO2 nanorods in the as-prepared np-RuO2/nr-MnO2 material. Electrochemical results demonstrated that the np-RuO2/nr-MnO2 as oxygen cathode of Li-O-2 batteries could maintain a reversible capacity of 500 mA h g(-1) within 75 cycles at a rate of 50 mA g(-1), and a higher capacity of 4000 mA h g(-1) within 20 cycles at a rate as high as 200 mA g(-1). Hollow structured carbon-supported nickel cobaltite nanoparticles as an efficient bifunctional electrocatalyst for the oxygen reduction and evolution reaction

Here, the exploration of efficient electrocatalysts for both the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) and oxygen evolution reaction (OER) is essential for fuel cells and metal-air batteries. In this study, we developed 3D hollow-structured NiCo₂O₄/C nanoparticles with interconnected pores as bifunctional electrocatalysts, which are transformed from solid NiCo₂ alloy nanoparticles through the Kirkendall effect. The unique hollow structure of NiCo₂O₄ nanoparticles increases the number of active sites and improves contact with the electrolyte to result in excellent ORR and OER performances. Abstract Designing cost‐efffective electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) holds significant importance in the progression of clean energy generation and efficient energy storage technologies, such as water splitting and rechargeable metal–air batteries. In this work, an OER electrocatalyst is developed using Ni and Fe precursors in combination with different proportions of graphene oxide. The catalyst synthesis involved a rapid reduction process, facilitated by adding sodium borohydride, which successfully formed NiFe nanoparticle nests on graphene support (NiFe NNG). Atomic-scale design of interfacial structure is an intriguing but challenging approach to developing efficient heterogenous catalysts for bifunctional oxygen electrocatalysis. Herein, an exquisite triphasic interfacial structure featuring the encapsulation of FexNi alloy in a graphitic shell with a partial exposure of the FeOy thin-layered surface is manipulated via an electronic modulation strategy.
