Effective magnetic anisotropy of amorphous and nanocrystalline Fe{sub 71.5}Al{sub 2}Cu{sub 1}Nb{sub 3}Si{sub 13.5}B{sub 9} alloy ribbon

The effective magnetic anisotropy of the Fe{sub 71.5}Al{sub 2}Cu{sub 1}Nb{sub 3}Si{sub 13.5}B{sub 9} alloy with different nanostructures has been investigated. The nanostructured phase was produced by means of thermal treatment (520{endash}600{degree}C during 1 h) to develop the devitrification of the precursor amorphous material. The effective magnetic anisotropy was evaluated from the measurement of the bias field dependence of the transverse susceptibility. Values of the effective anisotropy field, H{sub k}, from 20 Oe (as-quenched sample) down to 7 Oe (optimum nanocrystalline state) were obtained. Quenching-rate dependence of the magnetic and mechanical properties of nanocrystalline Fe{sub 73.5}Cu{sub 1}Nb{sub 3}Si{sub 13.5}B{sub 9} ribbons obtained by Joule heating

Four Fe{sub 73.5}Nb{sub 3}Cu{sub 1}Si{sub 13.5}B{sub 9} ribbons obtained by melt spinning with different quenching rates were submitted to direct current (DC) Joule-heating treatment in vacuum. On-line measurements of the electrical resistance were performed in the course of Joule heating in order to study the development of the nanocrystalline phase. The results show that the nanocrystallization kinetics is strongly dependent on the initial degree of structural disorder. The increase in both initial magnetic permeability and brittleness upon nanocrystallization were observed to be affected by the initial topological disorder.

Annealing effect on domain wall motion and magnetization rotation in amorphous Fe{sub 84}Zr{sub 7}B{sub 8}Cu{sub 1} ribbons

The frequency spectra of complex permeability have been measured as a function of ac field amplitude in the annealed amorphous Fe{sub 84}Zr{sub 7}B{sub 8}Cu{sub 1} ribbons. The longitudinal permeability results from the rotational magnetization for small ac field, h{sub o} < 23.4 mOe in as-quenched sample. However, for h{sub o} {ge} 23.4 mOe, the wall motion begins to be involved in the low frequency region. The permeability due to the wall motion drastically decreases with increasing annealing temperature, while the permeability due to the rotational magnetization increases with increasing annealing temperature up to 500 C and then decreases for highermore » annealing temperature.« less
