Lattice stability and metastability, as well as melting, are vital features of the physics and chemistry of dense hydrogen. Using ab initio molecular dynamics (AIMD), the classical superheating limit and melting line of metallic hydrogen are investigated up to 1.5 TPa. The computations show that the classical superheating degree is about 100 K, and the classical melting curve becomes flat at a level of 350 K when beyond 500 GPa. There has been considerable recent interest in the high-pressure behavior of silicon carbide, a potential major constituent of carbon-rich exoplanets. In this work, the atomic-level structure of SiC was determined through in situ X-ray diffraction under laser-driven ramp compression up to 1.5 TPa; stresses more than seven times greater than previous static and shock data. Here we show that the B1-type structure persists over this stress range and we have constrained its equation of state (EOS). The crystal structure of the Mo-stabilized Sr-based superconductor with nominal composition YSr{sub 2}Cu{sub 2.7}Mo{sub 0.3}O{sub 7-{delta}} has been analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRD), electron diffraction, and high-resolution electron microscope techniques. The material crystallizes in the space group P4/mmm, with lattice parameters a = 3.8138(2) and c = 11.5204(8) {angstrom}. In the structure, the Mo ions are exclusively substituted for copper and are located mainly on the planar coordinated [Cu(2)] sites ({approximately}24%), with only a small proportion on the chain [Cu(1)] sites ({approximately} 6%) in the parent YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7}(123-type) structure. This paper deals with the bcc Bi{sub 1-x}Ln{sub x}O{sub 1.5} phases recently isolated in the composition range 0.275 {le} x {le} 0.40 depending on the lanthanide substituent (Ln = Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy). These phases are slowly obtained by long time annealing ({approx_equal} 1500 hr) of the corresponding fcc {delta}-Bi{sub 3}O{sub 3} type phase at about 800{degrees}C, and exhibit a cell parameter almost twice the fcc parameter. In our efforts to model oxidizing species of diiron enzymes, we observed a transient high-valent species in the reaction of a ({mu}-oxo)diiron(III) TpA complex with H{sub 2}O{sub 2} in CH{sub 3}CN at -40{degree}C. This intermediate exhibits an S = 3/2 EPR spectrum and a Moessbauer isomer shift of 0.11 mm/s, i.e., the complex has properties very similar to those of synthetic oxoiron(IV) porphyrin radical cation species.
