Analysis of flux-integrated cross sections for quasi-elastic neutrino charged-current scattering off {sup 12}C at energies available at the MiniBooNE experiment

Flux-averaged and flux-integrated cross sections for quasi-elastic neutrino charged-current scattering on nuclei are analyzed. It is shown that the flux-integrated differential cross sections are less dependent on nuclear models than the flux-averaged ones. We calculate these cross sections using the relativistic distorted-wave impulse approximation and relativistic Fermi gas model with the Booster Neutrino Beamline flux and compare the results with the recent MiniBooNE experimental data. Within these models an axial mass M{sub A} is extracted from a fit of the measured d{sigma}/dQ{sup 2} cross section. The extracted value of M{sub A}=1.37{+-}0.05 GeV/c{sup 2} is consistent with the MiniBooNE result. Whilemore »« less

Using a high-statistics sample of anti-neutrino charged current quasi-elastic (CCQE) events, MiniBooNE reports the challenges in measuring parameters within the Relativistic Fermi Gas model. As the CCQE analysis has been completed in MiniBooNE's neutrino data, particular attention is paid to the differences in CCQE interactions between the two running modes.

Recently proposed Transverse Enhancement Model of nuclear effects in Charge Current Quasi-Elastic neutrino scattering [A. Bodek, H. S. Budd, and M. E. Christy, Eur. Phys. J. C{\bf 71} (2011) 1726] is confronted with the MiniBooNE high statistics experimental data. It is shown that the {\it effective} large axial mass model leads to better agreement with the data.

MINERνA (Main INjector Experiment for ν-A) is a neutrino scattering experiment in the NuMI high-intensity neutrino beam at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory. MINERvA was designed to make precision measurements of low energy neutrino and antineutrino cross sections on a variety of different materials (plastic scintillator, C, Fe, Pb, He and H2O). We present the current status of the charged current quasi-elastic scattering in plastic scintillator.

New Results from MiniBooNE Charged-Current Quasi-Elastic Anti-Neutrino Data

MiniBooNE anti-neutrino charged-current quasi-elastic (CCQE) data is compared to model predictions. The main background of neutrino-induced events is examined first, where three independent techniques are employed. Results indicate the neutrino flux is consistent with a uniform reduction of {approx}20% relative to the largely uncertain prediction. After background subtraction, the Q{sup 2} shape of {bar v}{sub {mu}} CCQE events is consistent with the model parameter MA = 1.35 GeV determined from MiniBooNE v{sub {mu}} CCQE data, while the normalization is {approx} 20% high compared to the same prediction.
