Elevated CO2 increases intrinsic water use efficiency (WUEi) of forests, but the magnitude of this effect and its interaction with climate is still poorly understood. Summer temperatures across nothern North America: Regional reconstructions from 1760 using tree-ring densities

Using maximum latewood density data from a network of coniferous trees, annually resolved series of average summer half-year (April-September) temperatures have been reconstructed for three regions of North America; Alaska and the Yukon (ALAYUK), the Mackenzie valley (MACKVA), and Quebec and Labrador (QUEBLA). The reconstructions primarily express temperature variability on interannual-to-decadal timescales and extend over the period from AD 1760. Reconstruction of precipitation in Northeastern Nevada using Tree Rings, 1600--1982

September--August annual precipitation in northeastern Nevada has been reconstructed for 1600--1982 using a single independent variable, an average of the White Horse Summit and Connors Pass tree-ring indices. The regression equation explains 71% of the variance in divisional precipitation from 1932--1982. Precipitation in the reconstruction, 1600--1982, ranged from a lower limit of about 6.00 in. in 1934 to an upper limit of at least 15.92 in. in 1839. Tree-ring density reconstructions of summer temperature patterns across Western North America since 1600

Summer half-year (April-September) mean temperatures are reconstructed across western North America between 1600 and 1982. The reconstructions, ultimately in the form of gridpoint anomaly time series, are produced using a principal-components regression technique to relate variability in a network of up to 53 high-elevation maximum latewood-density chronologies to a number of important temperature principal-component amplitude series.
