The cavity ringdown (CRD) absorption spectrum of 2-cyclohexen-1-one (2CHO) was recorded over the range 401.5–410.5 nm in a room-temperature gas cell. The very weak band system (ε ⩽ 0.1 M{sup −1} cm{sup −1}) in this spectral region is due to the T{sub 1}(n, π*) ← S{sub 0} electronic transition. The 0{sub 0}{sup 0} origin band was assigned to the feature observed at 24 558.8 ± 0.3 cm{sup −1}. We have assigned 46 vibronic transitions in a region extending from −200 to +350 cm{sup −1} relative to the origin band. We report the Fourier transform microwave spectra of the a-type J = 1-0 transitions of the binary and ternary CO-(pH{sub 2}){sub 2}, CO-pH{sub 2}-He, CO-HD, and CO-(oD{sub 2}){sub N=1,2} clusters. In addition to the normal isotopologue of CO for all clusters, we observed the transitions of the minor isotopologues, {sup 13}C{sup 16}O, {sup 12}C{sup 18}O, and {sup 13}C{sup 18}O, for CO-(pH{sub 2}){sub 2} and CO-pH{sub 2}-He. Pyrimidine has two in-plane CH(δ+)/N̈(δ–)/CH(δ+) binding sites that are complementary to the (δ–/2δ+/δ–) quadrupole moment of CO₂. For this study, we recorded broadband microwave spectra over the 7.5–17.5 GHz range for pyrimidine-(CO₂)_n with n = 1 and 2 formed in a supersonic expansion. Based on fits of the rotational transitions, including nuclear hyperfine splitting due to the two ¹⁴N nuclei, we have assigned 313 hyperfine components across 105 rotational transitions for the n = 1 complex and 208 hyperfine components across 105 rotational transitions for the n = 2 complex. Phase-sensitive microwave interferometry and trace-rare-gas optical emission spectroscopy were used to measure the line-integrated electron density, n{sub e}, and electron temperature, T{sub e}, in a high-density chlorine plasma sustained in a quartz discharge tube (inner diameter = 6 mm) by an electromagnetic surface wave at 2.45 GHz. For pressures in the 0.1-1 Torr range, n{sub e} decreased nearly linearly along the tube's z-axis down to the critical density for surface wave propagation, where the plasma decayed abruptly.
