We report the magnetic and electronic properties of the bilayer ruthenate Sr₃Ru₂O₇ upon Fe substitution for Ru. We find that Sr₃(Ru_1-xFe_x)₂O₇ shows spin-glass-like phase below 4 K for x = 0.01 and commensurate E-type antiferromagnetically ordered insulating ground state characterized by the propagation vector q_c = (0.25 0.25 0) for x ≥ 0.03, in contrast to the paramagnetic metallic state in the parent compound with strong spin fluctuations occurring at wave vectors q = (0.09 0 0) and (0.25 0 0). Here, we present a thorough study of doping dependent magnetic hysteresis and relaxation characteristics in single crystals of (Ba_1-xK_x) Fe₂As₂ (0.18 ≤ x ≤ 1). The critical current density J_c reaches maximum in the underdoped sample x = 0.26 and then decreases in the optimally doped and overdoped samples. Meanwhile, the magnetic relaxation rate S rapidly increases and the flux creep activation barrier U₀ sharply decreases in the overdoped sample x = 0.70. Here, we report a resonant inelastic x-ray scattering study of the magnetic excitation spectrum in a highly insulating Eu₂Ir₂O₇ single crystal that exhibits a metal-insulator transition at T_MI = 111(7) K. A propagating magnon mode with a 20 meV bandwidth and a 28 meV magnon gap is found in the excitation spectrum at 7 K, which is expected in the all-in-all-out magnetically ordered state. This magnetic excitation exhibits substantial softening as the temperature is raised towards T_MI and turns into a highly damped excitation in the paramagnetic phase.
