Ru{sub 2}(O{sub 2}C(CH{sub 2}){sub 6}CH{sub 3}){sub 4} (1a) is soluble in both coordinating (THF, CH{sub 3}OH, CH{sub 3}CN) and noncoordinating solvents (benzene, toluene, cyclohexane, CH{sub 2}Cl{sub 2}), allowing its solution properties to be investigated by {sup 1}H and {sup 13}C NMR spectroscopy, UV/visible spectroscopy, resonance Raman spectroscopy, and cyclic voltammetry. The thermodynamic properties and volatility of SOFC materials is an important aspect in order to guarantee the necessary long term operation of an SOFC. Contributions to the SrO-Cr{sub 2}O{sub 3}-La{sub 2}O{sub 3} phase diagram were experimentally determined for the reducing and oxidizing conditions present in SOFCs. Moreover, the vaporization of La{sub 1{minus}x}Sr{sub x}CrO{sub 3} was elucidated by the use of Knudsen effusion mass spectrometry. Specific-heat measurements with improved precision on two new samples of YBa{sub 2}Cu{sub 3}O{sub 7{minus}{delta}} with relatively low concentrations of paramagnetic centers are reported. For one sample the measurements were made for different values of {delta}. The data are analyzed, and the data reported earlier for another sample reanalyzed, with an improved fitting expression. In each case, the data give a well defined H{sup 1/2}T term in the mixed state. No persuasive evidence for a T{sup 2} term in the superconducting state is found.
