The ferromagnetic superconductor Y₉Co₇ was chemically doped to yield the solid solution Y₉Co_7-xPd_x for 0 < x < 0.4. The lattice parameter a does not depend on x, whereas c increases with increasing Pd content up to x = 0.2, the palladium solubility limit. The transition from ferromagnetism (T_C = 4.25 K) to superconductivity (T_sc = 2.4 K) was observed only for the parent Y₉Co₇ compound. For the lowest tested Pd doping level (x = 0.05), ferromagnetism is enhanced strongly (T_C = 9.35 K) and superconductivity is not seen above 1.8 K. Synthesis and superconductivity of In-doped SnTe nanostructures

In_xSn_1-xTe is a time-reversal invariant candidate 3D topological superconductor derived from doping the topological crystalline insulator SnTe with indium. The ability to synthesize low-dimensional nanostructures of indium-doped SnTe is key for realizing the promise they hold in future spintronic and quantum information processing applications. But hitherto only bulk synthesized crystals and nanoplates have been used to study the superconducting properties. Here for the first time we synthesize In_xSn_1-xTe nanostructures including nanowires and nanoribbons, which show superconducting transitions. Recent discovery of the topological crystalline insulator SnTe has triggered a search for topological superconductors, which have potential application to topological quantum computing. The present work reports on the superconducting properties of indium doped SnTe thin films. The (100) and (111) oriented thin films were epitaxially grown by pulsed-laser deposition on (100) and (111) BaF{sub 2} crystalline substrates, respectively. The onset superconducting transition temperatures are about 3.8 K for (100) and 3.6 K for (111) orientations, slightly lower than that of the bulk.
