The ratio of branching fractions R(D*^–) ≡ B(B⁰ → D*^–τ⁺ν_τ)/B(B⁰ → D*^–μ⁺ν_μ) is measured using a data sample of proton-proton collisions collected with the LHCb detector at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 3 fb^–1. For the first time, R(D*^–) is determined using the τ-lepton decays with three charged pions in the final state. The B⁰ → D*^–τ⁺ν_τ yield is normalized to that of the B⁰ → D*^–π⁺π^–π⁺ mode, providing a measurement of B(B⁰ → D*^–τ⁺ν_τ)/B(B⁰ → D*^–π⁺π^–π⁺) = 1.97 ± 0.13 ± 0.18, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the secondmore »« less

Determination of the Ratio of $b$ -Quark Fragmentation Fractions $f_{s} / f_{d}$ in $p p$ Collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 7 TeV$ with the ATLAS Detector

With an integrated luminosity of 2.47 fb^-1 recorded by the ATLAS experiment at the LHC, the exclusive decays B⁰_s→J/ψΦ and B⁰_d→J/ψK^*0 of B mesons produced in pp collisions at √s=7 TeV are used to determine the ratio of fragmentation fractions f_s/f_d. From the observed B⁰_s→J/ψΦ and B⁰_d→J/ψK^*0 yields, the quantity (f_s/f_d)[B(B⁰_s→J/ψΦ)/B(B⁰_d→J/ψK^*0)] is measured to be 0.199±0.004(stat)±0.008(syst). Using a recent theory prediction for [B(B⁰_s→J/ψΦ)/B(B⁰_d→J/ψK^*0)] yields (f_s/f_d)=0.240±0.004(stat)±0.010(syst)±0.017(th). As a result, it is based on a new approach that provides a significant improvement of the world average.

We present results of a search for CP violation in B⁰-B¯⁰ mixing with the BABAR detector. We select a sample of B⁰→D*^-Xℓ+ν decays with a partial reconstruction method and use kaon tagging to assess the flavor of the other B meson in the event. We determine the CP violating asymmetry ACP≡[N(B⁰B⁰)-N(B¯⁰B¯⁰)]/[N(B⁰B⁰)+N(B¯⁰B¯⁰)]=(0.06±0.17+0.38-0.32)%, corresponding to ΔCP=1-|q/p|=(0.29±0.84^+1.88_-1.61)×10^-3.
