Hybrid inflation with moduli stabilization and low scale supersymmetry breaking

We study the supergravity hybrid inflation model of Antusch in the presence of a modulus field. The η-problem is solved by a shift symmetry for the inflaton, which protects the inflaton mass even in the presence of the modulus field. Inflation is (nearly) unaffected by moduli stabilization, provided the scale of supersymmetry breaking in the post-inflation vacuum is small. Therefore the model has the nice phenomenology that it combines low scale supersymmetry breaking with high scale (grand unification scale) inflation.

Low-scale inflation and supersymmetry breaking in racetrack models

In many moduli stabilization schemes in string theory, the scale of inflation appears to be of the same order as the scale of supersymmetry breaking. For low-scale supersymmetry breaking, therefore, the scale of inflation should also be low, unless this correlation is avoided in specific models. We explore such a low-scale inflationary scenario in a racetrack model with a single modulus in type IIB string theory. Inflation occurs near a point of inflection in the Kaehler modulus potential. Inspiration from intersecting D-branes: general supersymmetry breaking soft terms in no-scale $$$$\mathcal{F}$$$$-SU(5)

Motivated by D-brane model building, we evaluate the F-SU(5) model with additional vector-like particle multiplets, referred to as flippons, within the framework of No-Scale Supergravity with non-vanishing general supersymmetry breaking soft terms at the string scale.
