Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theories from Domain Wall Fermions

The authors present work in progress on employing domain wall fermions to simulate N = 1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories on the lattice in d = 4 and d = 3 dimensions. The geometrical nature of domain wall fermions gives simple insights into how to construct these theories. The authors also discuss the obstacles associated with simulating the N = 2 theory in d = 4.

Dynamical simulation of N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory with domain wall fermions

We present results from a numerical study of N=1 supersymmetric Yang-Mills theory using domain wall fermions. In this particular lattice formulation of the theory, supersymmetry is expected to emerge accidentally in the continuum and chiral limits without any fine-tuning of operators. Dynamical simulations were performed for the gauge group SU(2) on 8{sup 3}x8 and 16{sup 3}x32 lattice space-time volumes and at three different values of the coupling: {beta}=2.3, 2.353, and 2.4. Results from this study include measurements of the static potential, residual mass, and a chirally extrapolated value for the gluino condensate at {beta}=2.3. Domain walls in supersymmetric Yang-Mills theories

We present a detailed analysis of the domain walls in supersymmetric gluodynamics and SQCD. We use the (corrected) Veneziano-Yankielowicz effective Lagrangians to explicitly obtain the wall profiles and check recent results of Dvali and Shifman: (i) the BPS-saturated nature of the walls and (ii) the {ital exact} expressions for the wall energy density which depend only on global features of dynamics (the existence of a nontrivial central extension of N=1 superalgebra in the theories which admit wall-like solutions). Complete Wetting in Supersymmetric QCD: or Why QCD Strings Can End on Domain Walls

As argued by Witten on the basis of M theory, QCD strings can end on domain walls. We present an explanation of this effect in the framework of effective field theories for the Polyakov loop and the gluino condensate in N=1 supersymmetric QCD. The domain walls separating confined phases with different values of the gluino condensate are completely wet by a layer of deconfined phase at the high-temperature phase transition. Two-Loop Helicity Amplitudes for Quark-Gluon Scattering in QCD and Supersymmetric Yang-Mills Theory

We present the two-loop QCD helicity amplitudes for quark-gluon scattering, and for quark-antiquark annihilation into two gluons. These amplitudes are relevant for next-to-next-to-leading order corrections to (polarized) jet production at hadron colliders. We give the results in the 't Hooft-Veltman and four-dimensional helicity (FDH) variants of dimensional regularization. The transition rules for converting the amplitudes between the different variants are much more intricate than for the previously discussed case of gluon-gluon scattering. Summing our two-loop expressions over helicities and colors, and converting to conventional dimensional regularization, gives results in complete agreement with those of Anastasiou, Glover, Oleari and Tejeda-Yeomans.
