A combination of neutron diffraction and angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy measurements on a pure antiferromagnetic stripe Rb_1-δFe_1.5-σS₂ is reported. A neutron diffraction experiment on a powder sample shows that a 98% volume fraction of the sample is in the antiferromagnetic stripe phase with rhombic iron vacancy order and a refined composition of Rb_0.66Fe_1.36S₂, and that only 2% of the sample is in the block antiferromagnetic phase with √5×√5 iron vacancy order. Two spatially separated phases in semiconducting ${Rb}_{0.8} {Fe}_{1.5} S_{2}$

We report neutron scattering and transport measurements on semiconducting Rb_0.8Fe_1.5S₂, a compound isostructural and isoelectronic to the well-studied A_0.8Fe_ySe₂(A = K, Rb, Cs, Tl/K) superconducting systems. Both resistivity and DC susceptibility measurements reveal a magnetic phase transition at T = 275 K. Neutron diffraction studies show that the 275 K transition originates from a phase with rhombic iron vacancy order which exhibits an in-plane stripe antiferromagnetic ordering below 275 K. In addition, the stripe antiferromagnetic phase interdigitates mesoscopically with an ubiquitous phase with √5 x√5 iron vacancy order. Bandwidth and Electron Correlation-Tuned Superconductivity in ${Rb}_{0.8} {Fe}_{2} ({Se}_{1 - z} S_{z})_{2}$

Here, we present a systematic angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy study of the substitution dependence of the electronic structure of Rb_0.8Fe₂(Se_1-zS_z)₂ (z = 0, 0.5, 1), where superconductivity is continuously suppressed into a metallic phase. Going from the nonsuperconducting Rb_0.8Fe₂S₂ to superconducting Rb_0.8Fe₂Se₂, we observe little change of the Fermi surface topology, but a reduction of the overall bandwidth by a factor of 2. Hence, for these heavily electron-doped iron chalcogenides, we have identified electron correlation as explicitly manifested in the quasiparticle bandwidth to be the important tuning parameter for superconductivity, and that moderate correlation is essential to achieving high T_C.

Gradual enhancement of stripe-type antiferromagnetism in the spin-ladder material ${BaFe}_{2} S_{3}$ under pressure

We report the recent discovery of pressure-induced superconductivity in BaFe₂S₃ and BaFe₂Se₃ has generated considerable interest in the 123-type iron chalcogenides. The structure of these materials features iron atoms arranged in quasi-one-dimensional ladders with either stripe-type or block-type antiferromagnetism at ambient pressure, constituting a new parent state for iron-based superconductivity in need of detailed study. Here, we report pressure-dependent neutron diffraction and muon spin relaxation/rotation measurements combined with first-principles calculations to investigate the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of BaFe₂S₃ under pressure.
