We perform here a quantitative study of the microscopic effective shell-model interactions in the valence sd shell, obtained from modern nucleon-nucleon potentials, chiral N3LO, JISP16 and Daejeon16, using No-Core Shell-Model wave functions and the Okubo-Lee-Suzuki transformation. We investigate the monopole properties of those interactions in comparison with the phenomenological universal sd-shell interaction, USDB. Theoretical binding energies and low-energy spectra of O isotopes and of selected sd-shell nuclei, are presented. We conclude that there is a noticeable improvement in the quality of the effective interaction when it is derived from the Daejeon16 potential. We present a new first-principles linear-response theory of changes due to perturbations in the quasiparticle self-energy operator within the GW method. This approach, named GW perturbation theory (GW PT), is applied to calculate the electron-phonon (e-ph) interactions with the full inclusion of the GW nonlocal, energy-dependent self-energy effects, going beyond density-functional perturbation theory. Avoiding limitations of the frozen-phonon technique, GW PT gives access to e-ph matrix elements at the GW level for all phonons and scattering processes, and the computational cost scales linearly with the number of phonon modes (wave vectors and branches) investigated. We report on the first application of the stochastic Laplacian Heaviside method for computing multiparticle interactions with lattice QCD to the two-nucleon system. Like the Laplacian Heaviside method, this method allows for the construction of interpolating operators which can be used to construct a set of positive-definite two-nucleon correlation functions, unlike nearly all other applications of lattice QCD to two nucleons in the literature.
